Jon Langford (the Mekons, Waco Brothers, Pine Valley Cosmonauts) visits Sig’s Lagoon for a reading/signing of his books, Skull Orchard Revisted & Nashville Radio: Art, Words, & Music.

The starting point was his long unobtainable album Skull Orchard. For the CD available exclusively with this book, Langford returned to those lost recordings and radically revised them, enlisting as his accomplices the Burlington Welsh Male Chorus, who contribute a unique warmth to the material.

Jon illustrated his lyrics for Skull Orchard, at once autobiographical and fanciful, in a set of “song paintings” created especially for this book, which also includes much more artwork, an A to Z of South Walian culture and history (both personal and general) by Jon’s brother, and acclaimed SF writer David Langford, photographs by their father, Denis Langford, and Jon’s first published story, a witty, dystopian tale about a whale and a dolphin.

“Lyrically, he creates a picture of a town of physical people who’ve lost their place in a technological world, but his punk background shows up in his love of the hard-charging song, which adds a rebellious (and therefore hopeful) voice to the songs. In fact, it’s only when you break the songs down to the lyrics that the darkness is evident; on a casual listen, it’s one of his most consistently hard-driving, entertaining albums.”–Offbeat New Orleans

Nashville Radio is the first collection of his acclaimed art. It reproduces 215 paintings and etchings, alongs with song lyrics and autobiographical writings. The book also comes with a specially recorded exclusive CD of Langford performing 18 of the printed songs.

********Complimentary Real Ale at the event********

For the past 18 years he has been creating posters for shows around the world, keeping his do-it-yourself ethic alive by printing and selling his own work as well as other artists through his print company called SWAMP. Lure of The Swamp is his first book, featuring over 100 color pages of pure rock poster art. It chronicles 26 years of Lindsey’s printing history through vivid imagery and interviews. Posters for Jesus Lizard, Rev. Horton Heat, Bikini Kill, The Cramps, White Zombie, Jabberjaw, Man… Or Astroman?, Butthole Surfers, My Bloody Valentine, Judas Priest, Aerosmith, The Faint, Gogol Bordello, and many more. If you like rock posters this is the book to get! Color. “If there is one thing that makes America great, it’s a special type of self made pioneer, the true D.I.Y… The Trailblazer! That unique person that grabs a hold of his world and his culture and molds it into energy and momentum. There’s an old term for it, STOKED. And Lindsey is a being, STOKED to the fullest!” -Frank Kozik
